Designated a national Site of Scenic Beauty and National Monument, Geibikei Gorge is counted among the 100 Views of Japan. This natural beauty spot is incredible in every season. Drift through the gorge in a boat propelled by an oarsman maneuvering it with a single long pole. You might even get the chance to enjoy an “oarsman experience” in which you can try propelling the boat yourself!
After alighting at a landing point at the far end of the gorge, try your hand at undama-age, or lucky stone tossing. Try to toss the lucky stone into a hole in a rock on the opposite shore! This rock, resembling a lion’s head, is said to be the namesake of the gorge. If the lucky stone lands inside the hole, it is said that your wish will come true.
