Experience a Sushi Workshop at the Kamo Aquarium
These workshops begin with a demonstration on how to break down fresh fish into sashimi, the variety of which depends on the season as the fish used in these sushi classes are locally caught fish from Yamagata.
The chef will demonstrate cutting techniques as well as the type of cuts that are best suited for sashimi used for nigiri sushi. You will also be able to try your hand at cutting your sashimi together with the chef and use the sashimi made in this demonstration in your own sushi.
Participants are also encouraged to be active in all parts of the sushi workshop but also know that you are free to just watch and leave certain parts to the chefs at anytime.
Following this, the chef will then teach you three of the main methods used to make nigiri sushi with an emphasis on the quality of the high quality Yamagata rice used and shaping techniques.
Participants will then work to make their own sushi with supervision of the chef either at the sushi counter or at your own tables.
Following the completion of your sushi, everyone will enjoy a lunch centered around your masterpieces with the chef!
