A Culinary Experience of the Sea in Shiogama
Shiogama City just outside of the capital city of Sendai is one of the tuna capitals of Japan that boasts both a wonderful tuna auction and wholesale market where visitors can pick up a wide variety of fish and products from its many vendors.
Starting with a tour of the tuna auction in the morning, guests will then be joined by a local chef who will guide them through the wholesale market to purchase fish and other ingredients for our lunch later this day. This is a hands on experience where guests will then work with multiple types of Japanese knives to fillet the fish together with the chef and to also prepare other ingredients for sushi.
Guests will then make their own sushi together with the chef learning to make both rolled and nigiri sushi by hand with the fresh ingredients from Miyagi. Lastly we will be able to enjoy our meal with side dishes for lunch together with the chef and guide.

We ask for reservations 2 weeks in advance to accommodate for the schedule of the chefs and local guide who will be present to help you with the language barrier. However you are welcome to send us a message to see if the chef is free even 2-3 days before.
