Day 1: Mifuchi gorge and Akayu Onsen

Start your tour at Akayu Station, accessible from Yamagata Station. Take part in a canoeing experience where you will explore the picturesque Mifuchi Gorge. Canoe through this picturesque narrow ravine just 13 feet wide. 

After, move to dining at a specialty restaurant which uses locally grown produce.

Following lunch, move to the hot spring district of Akayu Onsen. Check in and relax at your lodgings, then go on a night walking tour around the area with your guide.

Day 2: Hot air balloon and canoeing

Have breakfast and check out of your Akayu Onsen accommodations. Transfer up a mountain to experience riding in a tethered hot air balloon ride, offering an aerial view highlighting the beauty of the Okitama region’s rich natural landscape from above. You may be able to see a sea of clouds above the basin as you float above, depending on the weather.

Head to lunch located in Akayu Onsen.

Akashiba gorge, well-known for its colors in Autumn, will be your next and last activity of the tour. Canoe up the stream of the gorge, take photos of the colored bridges, touch miniature waterfalls and enjoy the air and nature of Yamagata.

Tour ends at Akayu Station.
